Serious prayer is the first step to church growth

The first act of the eleven after the ascension of Jesus Christ was to select a replacement for Judas Iscariot. It was determined it should be one who had witnessed the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Before anyone was selected, they prayed: “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two You have chosen to occupy this ministry and apostleship.” The unchained expectancy of the Apostles was to go forward to the ministry entrusted to them by Jesus Christ. They took the commission, mandate and enabling power of Jesus Christ seriously. They were motivated by the words of Jesus to them, John 20:21-22 (NASB), “Jesus said to them again, Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.  And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.” The words of Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20…
